Ultimate Men’s Haircut Guide

In an ideal world, you could bring a photo of David Beckham to your barber and he would transform your hair to match the legendary football player. The reason this doesn't always work is the fact that your face shape dictates what haircut is best for you. The haircut that David has might look different on you because your face shapes are not the same. You may have a heart-shaped face, therefore a hairstyle rocked by Ryan Gosling may suit you better. Once you identify your face shape, we suggest researching celebrities with the same shape to mimic that star’s look. Regardless of your face shape, we’ve got the guide to help you find your ideal...

Prom Style Show 2018

This year’s Prom Style Show event will be held at the school on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 12pm.  Students will model gently used gowns and dresses that are donated. Most gowns are donated by area high school and college students. Some gowns are new and are donated by local bridal salons and dress boutiques. All dresses will be sold for $20 and the proceeds benefit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The 2017 event raised $575 for the charity. We are currently accepting dress donations. To donate please contact Ginny Jared at (856) 456-4927 or via email at The cosmetology students do a great job of styling the model’s hair to...

Making a Difference

Having been in Cosmetology Education on and off for the last 15+ years, one of the things all of my former students will say I always stressed to them was how to make money in this industry.  I preached and tried to drive in their heads that it was all about the green and how to work smart to make the most money possible.  However, on occasion, situations arise where it is entirely the opposite and making money is not even a consideration.  Allow me to explain.   It is very common for people to look down on Hairstylists with an attitude that they “just do hair”.  It is also a mind-trap that some students and even experienced stylists fall into, not realizing how much...

A Sneak Peak at Working in the Beauty Business!

Working in the educational part of the beauty industry is rewarding in more than one way. I have a front row seat to the latest trends in hair, makeup, nails, skin, and even barbering! I’m able to gain experience in business operations by working closely with our directors. One of my favorite duties is attending high school career fairs as a representative of the school. Upon attending a career fair, I look for prospective students who have a passion for all things beauty and want to build a successful career in this industry. Our educators and administrative staff are close-knit yet come from all walks of life to deliver the most unique education for our students. I’ve come to...

Good Luck Grads!

Graduation is just around the corner, and as a PB graduate (class of ’08!) I always take a moment at this time of year to reflect on my experience at PB and what the road to becoming a cosmetologist meant to me. Completing the cosmetology program represented the achievement of a major life goal, and knowing I’d be able to pursue a career I had a passion for was truly exciting. Still, the journey definitely came with a few bumps in the road. Logging 1200 hours of everything from chemistry to anatomy, in addition to all the hands-on cutting and styling, was anything but easy. As your time here comes to an end, it is so important to acknowledge all of your hard work and everything it...

Mutter Museum Field Trip

PB’s junior cosmetology students learn an array of subjects during their time as a cosmetology student. Anatomy and physiology are some of the most difficult of the theory subjects. To help students have a better understanding, teachers and students take a field trip to Philadelphia to visit the Mutter Museum. The Mutter Museum is a medical museum that contains a collection of medical oddities, anatomical and pathological specimens, wax models and antique medical equipment.  Here, the students get real-life visuals of what they are studying in their textbooks. The Mutter Museum is found on 22nd Street between Chestnut and Market Street. It houses some amazing discoveries.  Without...
