MAY 4 – Graduation Tickets Available

All graduates from 2011-2012 are invited to pick up their Graduation Tickets in the Admissions Office. Each graduate gets two guest tickets.The annual ceremony is at Paris Caterers in Blackwood, NJ on Thursday, June 21st at 7pm. Extra tickets (if there are any) will be available June 1st for $10 per ticket.

APR 23 – New Class Registration

On Saturday, May 19, 2012, PB’s Admissions Office will host a registration day for all classes. Students interested in enrolling in the Cosmetology or Skin Care Programs should bring a copy of their driver’s license or birth certificate and a $300.00 registration fee. This fee is non-refundable and holds your seat in the class of your choice. The office will be open from 9am until 1pm on this date.

U.S. News and World Reports recently listed “hairdresser” as one of the best jobs of 2012, citing data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics which projects employment of hairdressers to grow by 15.7% by 2020!

APR 12 – Barbershop Guest Artist

Senior students observed a demonstration by skilled barber, Jessica King today. Jessica is a 2008 graduate of PB Cosmetology and her expertise is in men’s cuts and grooming. Jessica has worked at Clip and Snip in Woodbury, NJ. Students enjoyed Jessica’s tips on fading and blending and her recommendations for the correct barbershop tools.

FEB 22 – The International Dermal Institute Field Trip

Students in the Aesthetics course traveled to King of Prussia, PA for continuing education that included both lecture and demonstration. They learned about facials using machines with various modalities. The International Dermal Institute specializes in undergraduate and postgraduate continuing education for skin therapists. FEB 16 – Aesthetician Course!

Announcing part-time schedule for Aesthetician Course! A new part-time program will begin on August 6, 2012 for Aesthetician students. The course schedule is Monday through Thursday evenings from 5:30pm until 9:30pm. It will take only 10 months to complete the program. Limited seating is available. Guest artist Laura Stewart from Techniques Salon in Blackwood, NJ demonstrated how to create perfect eye brow shapes for 2012. She also taught junior Cosmetology students about the latest trends in make-up which included cameo face with pale colors. White hot!!

JAN 25 – “Academy at Sea” Contest Announced!

Two PB graduates will be chosen to go to celebrity stylist Ted Gibson’s “Academy at Sea”, a continuing education course held aboard the Majesty of the Seas cruise ship. The trip is April 13-April 16, 2012. The ship leaves Miami, Florida and cruises to Nassau, Bahamas. To enter you must be a PB graduate, have a current NJ Cosmetology license, be at least 21 years old and be able to pay travel expenses to Miami, Florida. Please go to PB’s facebook page and in 50 words or less post what your education at PB has meant to you. Five finalists with the best posts will be chosen to interview at the school. JAN 11 – Academy Hair Extensions

Interested students will participate at the end of the month in a beauty certification class for the application, maintenance, and removal of both the bead/micro-link and the hot keratin bond systems of hair extensions. Hair extensions are one of the fastest growing areas of the professional beauty industry. The class includes a dual system starter kit and is available at a discounted price to currently attending students.
