Good Luck Grads!
Graduation is just around the corner, and as a PB graduate (class of ’08!) I always take a moment at this time of year to reflect on my experience at PB and what the road to becoming a cosmetologist meant to me. Completing the cosmetology program represented the achievement of a major life goal, and knowing I’d be able to pursue a career I had a passion for was truly exciting. Still, the journey definitely came with a few bumps in the road. Logging 1200 hours of everything from chemistry to anatomy, in addition to all the hands-on cutting and styling, was anything but easy.
As your time here comes to an end, it is so important to acknowledge all of your hard work and everything it took to get you here. You have earned your moment to shine, and to enjoy the experience of your family, friends and loved ones seeing you get the credit you deserve for this great accomplishment. To graduate from studying something that you love is a rare and special gift, and to celebrate that with a day honoring you and your classmates is amazing.
When the celebration has ended, what comes next? Well, this will be different for everyone. Many avenues are available to us, so choosing where to start is up to you. Once you’ve passed your state exams – both written and practical – you can accomplish anything. Maybe you’ll start out washing hair or assisting; perhaps you’ll get out on the salon floor from the beginning. You could wind up in a small salon, a big chain, a spa, a barber shop…even starting your own business! The options are endless once you have your license. The best thing about this industry is that you are the master of your own destiny. You are only as good as you want to be, and if you continue to work hard you will absolutely see the rewards. Best of luck to the PB class of 2017!
