September Star Students!
James Weiss is a senior student in the Barbering Program who chose to pursue barbering after leaving his career in the Philadelphia Police Department. His new dream is to work in a busy salon or potentially own his own shop! Before attending PB, James graduated from George Washington High School. Referred to barbering by a good friend, James left his job as a police officer to begin his training at PB. Doing work with a straight razor has proven to be one of his areas of expertise, yet he also enjoys working with his Andis Masters and Excels Clipper over comb. James is a supporter of breast cancer awareness because he lost his mother to breast cancer. In his free time, he plays the bass in a band called Wolves Attack which is a metal/punk crossover style band. Stop in the salon to see James on Mondays when men’s cuts are just $5!
Daija Murphy is a junior in the Cosmetology Program who has loved doing and working with hair for as long as she can remember. She views Cosmetology as an outlet for creativity and a way to express herself. With a sister who previously taught at PB Beauty School, she chose to pursue her dreams with an education here so that she can continue to make people feel beautiful! Daija says that she can do a “bomb blowout” and would choose a blowdryer as her beauty weapon of choice. In five years, she hopes to own her own business in the beauty industry, and her dream job would be becoming Nicki Minaj’s personal stylist. Aside from being passionate about cosmetology, she supports breast cancer awareness and enjoys drawing in her free time. When Daija moves up to the senior salon, make sure to pay her a visit for one of her amazing blowouts!
