Every so often an organization goes through change. Over the past year we have had three new additions to our salon family, all of them PB graduates or students. As a matter of fact, nine of eleven stylists on our staff have graduated from PB. We are happy to say that we look forward to PB students playing a key role in our future.

PB’s environment is comforting and family-oriented. To me, that is the definition of a relaxing and great place to be. Coming to school here every day, I feel as if I have grown a second family. The people are very accepting and the teachers are understanding and patient. The scholarship I earned was very helpful financially. It also motivated me to work hard and to do a good job in school. When you are granted a scholarship, it is a privilege and makes you feel like an important person because you were chosen.

Being the head ambassador at PB is an awesome privilege. It allows me to utilize my leadership skills and share some of my knowledge with future students. It has added to my already life-changing experience at PB. Every day is an adventure and something different and challenging. I come to school each morning knowing that my teachers are there for me to grow. I know that I will leave PB with confidence to be the best hairstylist I can be.

I really enjoy coming to PB every day. I have made such good friends and have become close with everyone. You really become like family. It’s an amazing feeling. Having been granted the scholarship really helps keep me motivated. Since I have to keep my attendance up, I am here often and that gives me the opportunity to really connect with teachers and my classmates. PB is a great school and a great experience. I love it!

PB is almost like my second home and family. The teachers have given me the ability to be the best stylist I can be without any doubt. Being the full scholarship winner really gave me the confidence I need to get through school. PB puts every ounce of talent and knowledge they have into ensuring their students are the best out there and I think we are! Coming to PB was the best thing that has happened to me because it gave me the strength and the confidence I needed to live out my dreams.

Success, to me, is when you realize that you have made a good choice for yourself. A good choice that I made was choosing PB as my cosmetology school. When I was growing up, my neighbor Durea was a salon owner, stylist and a cosmetology educator at PB. I always admired her work and knew I wanted to be part of the industry. When I told her I wanted to be a stylist, she referred me to go to PB. I visited the school and I loved what I saw- especially the Pivot Point training. When I was a senior student, Dennis Ratner, CEO and founder of Hair Cuttery, stopped by PB for a visit. Dennis talked with me about career opportunities and encouraged me to apply. With the training I received at PB, I had confidence on my technical interview and was offered a position as a stylist right after I graduated. I have worked for Hair Cuttery since 1999 and have had the pleasure to career path from stylist to being a educator and now overseeing all of the staffing in our New Jersey and Delaware salons. I am very thankful for the education I received at PB and I know it has been the foundation to my very successful career.

Before I entered PB, I planned on pursuing a career in photography. I didn’t know much about the beauty industry but I knew that, when I took a picture, the hair was very important. A friend suggested I enroll in beauty school. I took a risk and enrolled in PB and loved it. PB gave me a great foundation for the position I am in right now. I work full time as a stylist at Blu Salon and Spa in Penns Grove, NJ. I also freelance with a well known photographer in South Jersey and my work has recently been published in “Nu Mode” magazine. I would describe my personal style as more edgy and funkier than many of my fellow stylists in the salon so I love the creative aspect of working with models on photo shoots.

I always just had jobs, dead end jobs that just paid the bills, until I came to PB. In the summer of 2009, I made the decision to change my life and pursue a career instead of a job. I gave myself a secure future. I made a promise to myself that I would never be left without work again and that being laid off and unemployed would no longer be an option. I graduated in 2010 and since then I have been working in a salon and building my traveling bridal business. I have been granted so many opportunities as a result of my education and training that I obtained at PB, from doing makeup for the Philadelphia Mummers to styling hair and makeup for a wedding that will be featured on TLC Network’s “Four Weddings”. I wake up everyday and LOVE what I do. In April 2012, I decided to continue my education in the cosmetology industry and get my NJ Educators License. I hope that this will allow me the chance to help other people who have just had “jobs” find themselves in a rewarding and fun career in the same way I have.

PB is and always has been a godsend to me. Not only for the hair-dos and nails for when my girls were little, but for economical reasons as well. I have been able to afford the service without compromising the results.
Thank you PB Cosmetology School for many years of great customer service!

I was never that little girl cutting my barbie doll’s hair. I had a passion for dance and it consumed my childhood and continued through high school. It was a way for me to creatively express myself and build confidence. When my dance career ended, I did not have to think twice about what I wanted to be “when I grew up.” I was going to cosmetology school. I wanted a career where I could be myself and my passion could shine through. My first interview at PB ignited my desire for this career. I was excited and completely captivated by the endless opportunities this career could provide. My experience at PB was amazing! I learned the fundamental basics of cosmetology, which every student should know before entering into the business. The tools I acquired at PB have carried me to where I am today. I am now working at Derek Michael’s Salon as a stylist and manager. I am honored to lead my salon. I can wholeheartedly say I love what I do!

When I graduated from high school, I can remember expressing to my parents that I wanted to go to cosmetology school. I remember them both saying that I had to go college first and after I graduated I could do whatever I wanted to do. And that was exactly what I did. After graduating from college, I worked in the field and I tried to convince myself that I could work in the world that my parents wanted me to be a part of so badly. For about 3 years, I pushed myself through business meetings and events that my heart wasn’t really in to. Ironically one day, I did hair and makeup for a close friend’s wedding. When I came home, my mom said, “you know, you should go to school for that.” I looked at her and thought…finally!! I attended PB Cosmetology at the age of 26. I was nervous and scared to be attending school again but, as soon as I walked through the doors, I knew that this school was where I was supposed to be. The tools and skills I learned at PB have guided me into a career that I love and gave me the opportunity to learn something new everyday. This career has endless opportunities and I am glad to be a part of this growing industry. It all began with PB.
