SCHOLARSHIPS CANNOT BE COMBINED

This full tuition scholarship honors the life and legacy of the late Colleen Hogan, longtime Director of PB Cosmetology School. Colleen was a devoted leader, mentor, and third-generation steward of the school, founded by her grandmother. For over four decades, she shaped PB into not only a place of learning, but a vibrant, welcoming community grounded in opportunity.

Colleen was known for her ability to make all students feel seen and valued. She believed deeply in the power of beauty and education to empower young professionals. This scholarship is a tribute to her vision, generosity, and the values that continue to guide the school today.

Each year, one full scholarship will be awarded to an incoming student who demonstrates exceptional commitment to making the most of their experience at PB. The award covers full tuition, books, and student kit fees.

Applicants must submit a personal essay on what inspired them to pursue a career in the beauty industry, two letters of recommendation from previous employers or work peers, and participate in an interview. Recipients are expected to maintain good academic standing and serve as student ambassadors, embodying Colleen’s legacy of integrity, community, and purpose.

Federal Student Aid

Department of Education, primarily for undergraduate students. Awards vary depending on the cost of attendance and the financial circumstances of students. Unlike loans, these grants don’t need to be repaid. Visit studentaid.gov for more information.

Participating schools award SEOG to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need, based on the availability of funds. It’s a form of financial aid that doesn’t need to be repaid, and is awarded to students who also receive the Federal Pell Grant.

This is a federal student loan program managed by the U.S. Department of Education, where eligible students and parents can borrow directly from the government. Direct Loans include subsidized and unsubsidized loans and Parent Plus loans. Direct Unsubsidized loans accrue interest from the time the loan is disbursed and you are responsible for paying the interest. With Direct Subsidized loans the Department of Education pays the interest while the student is in school (at least half-time), during the grace period, and during deferment periods, but must be repaid with interest.

Alternative Loans

These funds give a student the ability to borrow as much as they need to meet the remaining cost of education after other financial aid.  Students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), attend a New Jersey school or be a New Jersey resident, be a US Citizen or eligible non-citizen and be enrolled at least half-time.  Approval is based on the borrower’s satisfactory credit history and ability to repay the loan and a co-signor may be required.

Financial Aid Support Sites

The first step in your financial aid journey is to complete your FAFSA. This will determine what Student Loans and/or Pell Grants are available to you. You can do this on your own at Studentaid.gov or make an appointment with our financial aid advisor who can assist you in completing this task. Our school code for the FAFSA is 010629.
